Hey Otto Releases New iPhone Application, Providing the World's Fastest Way to Conference Call

Carmel, IN (PRWEB) January 20, 2009 -- Hey Otto (www.heyotto.com), the only collaboration service provider to replace conference call PIN numbers with voice-controlled entry, today announced the release of its first iPhone application. Hey Otto Conference Calls and Meetings (www.heyotto.com/iphone) helps iPhone users who also have a Hey Otto account, quickly and easily start conferences. To host a conference, leaders pick people from their list of iPhone contacts then ask the virtual conference assistant, Otto, to independently call and conversationally invite each person to join a phone meeting.

"By leveraging Otto's ability to politely call people by name and personably invite them to join a conference call, we've created the fastest, easiest and most effective way to start, schedule or join a conference call," said Jason Kolb, vice-president of Hey Otto. "Users have told us that speaking naturally to Otto is the easiest way to start and conduct a conference call. Now, by using the new iPhone application, they can start conferences with all available participants faster than ever. Best of all, calls don't require any advance preparation or scheduling by you, and attendees simply need to answer the phone."

A leader who has the iPhone application and a Hey Otto account can invite people to attend conference calls through Hey Otto even if the attendees do not have an iPhone or the iPhone application. An attendee's phone will ring, and upon answering, he/she will hear Otto say, "Hello this is Otto calling on behalf of (host name) who requests that (attendee name) join their conference call. May I connect you?"

After answering "yes," Otto will instantly place an attendee into the conference and announce their arrival by name. If an attendee is not available, Otto will leave a voicemail with instructions on how to join the conference and simultaneously announce to the audio conference room the results of his attempt, such as, "I received voicemail when I tried calling John D."

"We've been using the Hey Otto iPhone application for our daily internal development meetings," said Dustin Sparks, a development manager for Interactions Corporation. By relying on Otto to call everyone, we know our meetings will start on time, and there is virtually no effort or time required by anyone to schedule the call, get and distribute PIN numbers and all the other headaches associated with traditional conference calls."

"We strive to make collaboration simple, easy and fast. We believe the iPhone application continues that mission and will be a great asset to many of our users," said Kolb.

Callers can also dial the toll free number 1-888-Otto-123 (1-888-688-6123) and ask to join an active conference. To gain access to the call, attendees need to speak the leader's first and last name. From within a conference, callers can hit their # key to have a private conversation with Otto. Leaders have the option to ask Otto to dial out and invite additional participants, lock the conference or for one or all lines to be muted. Leaders as well as other attendees can ask Otto to transfer their conference call connection to a more convenient phone, receive a roll call, and even ask Otto to play audio clip art to bring levity to the conference.

The Hey Otto Conference Calls and Meetings iPhone application is free to download from the iPhone App store or iTunes. Before hosting a call, new users will need to visit http://www.heyotto.com and set up an account (http://www.heyotto.com/signups/). The pay-as-you-go service has no minimum usage requirements, and new users will receive 200 toll-free minutes. Visit http://www.heyotto.com for more details.
